Amy Goldman's lifelong passion for melons is the inspiration behind her book "The Melon". Victor Schrager was tasked with capturing the beauty of 125 melon varieties at Goldman's farm in Rhinebeck, situated in the Hudson Valley. The collection consists of 85 melons and 40 watermelons sourced from various parts of the world, each with their own unique story. The book also serves as a comprehensive resource for melon enthusiasts and gardeners alike, featuring additional information on the melon varieties and a specialized recipe section containing 20 recipes. “The Melon” represents nine years of cultivating, studying, and tasting.

By collaborating with Goldman and Schrager, I developed a layout that balances information and aesthetics, with a clean and modern design that highlights the vivid colors and textures of the melons. The styling incorporates generous amounts of white space and classic typography in shades of gray, which complements the captivating hues of Schrager's photography. Crafting a clear narrative that unites the images and text into a cohesive whole made this project particularly fulfilling.
