When the Center for Fiction moved to Brooklyn in 2019, they sought to revamp their brand to reflect their rich history and passion for fiction. While at Doyle Partners, we ensured that their new location in Downtown Brooklyn honored their legacy, conveyed their love for storytelling, and incorporated a touch of Brooklyn's unique style. Despite being established two centuries ago, before New York had a public library system, the Center for Fiction continues to devote themselves to the art of fiction.
Our task was to craft a lasting impression and strong identity that reflected the rich history of 'The Center for Fiction' and helped them establish their presence in Brooklyn. Our branding solution involved designing a new logo, stationery, website, and promotional materials for the library, cafe, and event space. We also developed a comprehensive signage package that utilized the space to communicate stories through murals, messaging, and environmental graphics.
We wanted to make a big impact with The Center for Fiction's location, which had great street visibility, and decided to use the glass storefront corner to our advantage. To create a memorable brand identity, we started by designing a custom 15ft neon logo that would be interpreted as a book, representing the many stories held within. This neon logo was designed to hang in the prominent corner window and wrap around the building like a cornerstone, creating a strong and impactful first impression.
Infiltrating the architecture to create stories in a subtle yet powerful way.
